The Office of Commissioner Gimpy -- Disallowed the signing of pitcher Eric Bedard on July 19 because it put the team $4 over the salary cap. Did allow the release of outfielder J.D. Drew to sign outfielder Gary Matthews, Jr.
the Nasties -- Activated pitcher Brandon Backe off the disabled list.
Cameron's Crazies -- Moved shortstop Jose Reyes to 2nd base. Released 2nd baseman Ryan Freel. Signed shortstop Stephen Drew of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Tuck's Friars -- Released catcher Josh Willingham. Signed catcher Russell Martin of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
